 Hiking

There are two main trails within the park for hiking, backpacking, bicycling, and equestrian use. These trails connect with trails deeper in the Santa Catalina Mountains.

Romero Canyon Trail
Distance: 7.2 miles one-way Rating: Moderate
Elevation: 2,700 feet (trailhead)
6,000 feet (Romero Pass)

Trailhead: The trail begins at the trailhead parking area. Map Coordinates (NAD83): ~32 25.564N; 110 54.511W.
Description: The trail follows a flat and sandy path, skirting pools and water falls at 2.8 miles from the trailhead before climbing quite steeply in places to Romero Pass, where it connects with the Mount Lemmon Trail, the West Fork Sabino Trail, and the Cathedral Rock Trail.
Sutherland Trail
Distance: 9.7 miles one-way Rating: Moderate
Elevation: 2,700 feet (trailhead) Total Ascent:  
Trailhead: The trail begins at the trailhead parking area. Map Coordinates (NAD83): ~32 25.564N; 110 54.511W.
Description: The trail follows Powerline Road for 2.6 miles and eventually climbs up through the foothills to its junction with the Samaniego Ridge Trail, the Canada del Oro Trail, and by a short connector to a junction with the Mount Lemmon Trail at 8,600 feet in elevation.
