 Tusayan Pueblo
 Overview

Tusayan Pueblo, the only excavated ruin on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, is typical of the large number of Anasazi (Ancient Puebloan) settlements which dot the area. It is located near the westernmost edge of the Anasazi Kayentan culture. Built about 1185 C.E., it was inhabited for about 20 to 25 years and supported up to 20 inhabitants.

A visit to Tusayan Ruin and Museum will provide a glimpse of Pueblo Indian life near the Grand Canyon some 800 years ago. The museum, located three miles west of Desert View, is open daily from 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. The museum is closed on December 25 and January 1. Admission is free.

A self-guiding trail leads through the adjacent ruin. See our notes on Archaeological Site Etiquette.
