On our way to Tucson for our Christmas vacation, we stopped to visit Lee's Ferry, near the extreme southern end of the Recreation Area, in Arizona. This is the area where the rafters put in for their journey down the Colorado River, through the Grand Canyon.

This is an historical area, with stone buildings and remnants of steam boats left from the days when this was the only point to cross the wild Colorado for hundreds of miles. There are also several trails through the area and a nice, although exposed, campground. I suspect that this area is very hot and humid in the Summer months. But a cooling dip in the river is always a possibility.

On this day the sky was blue and the air temperature was probably in the high 50s, but it was breezy. It's an interesting area that we need to visit again and explore more. But probably in the fall.
