Marble Canyon on the Colorado River from Navajo Bridge, Arizona.

This page contains personal notes on our visits to Navajo Bridge over the Colorado River at Marble Canyon, within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

 Personal Notes
We've crossed the old and the new bridge on many occasions, though we've only stopped twice to explore the area. Now that there is an interpretive center and public restrooms and drinking water we will no doubt stop more often as we pass between Arizona and Utah on our many adventures on the Colorado Plateau. We have also spotted a California Condor in the area.

9:02 a.m. (Arizona Time)
We stopped at the Navajo Bridge Interpretive Center to use the restrooms and stretch. They have composting toilets there, drinking water, and a small Visitor Center. There are nice views of the Colorado River down in Marble Canyon as well as the two bridges across.

4:00 p.m.
We stopped at Navajo Bridge over the Colorado River as it passes through Marble Canyon. Jurisdiction is kind of confusing in this area. I believe the bridge is within the boundaries of Grand Canyon National Park, but Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Vermillion Cliffs National Monument all come together in this area. We walked out onto the bridge and saw a string of rafts, kayaks, and dories drifting down the river.

4:20 p.m.
We spotted what looked to be another condor flying along the Vermillion Cliffs as we drove west. This is our ninth big bird of this type. We were also passing near the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument.
