 Personal Notes

 June 3, 2003

We took this trip before I began keeping notes, so I really don't remember much about this tent camping trip. We were living in Tucson and had driven north to Globe and the mining town of Miami. Taking a road south out of that town we drove up into the Pinal Mountains to one of the Forest Service campgrounds high up in the range. There were great views of the surrounding desert landscape, but the mountain was cold. I don't remember what time of year it was, but because of the cold temperatures it may have been late Spring or even Autumn. There were only one or two other campers in the area. We had the main part of the campground to ourselves.

I don't remember anything about the facilities, but I do remember the tall pines and plenty of shade which would have been great at another time of the year. Of course, on this trip, we were looking for the sunny spots.

I remember rocky outcrops and the pleasant smell of the pines and the quiet. I don't remember if we went for a hike.
