 Rock Art

We only know of this one petroglyph sample from Wupatki National Monument. It is located on a horizontal sandstone block at the top of the steps leading around the main ruins at the Wupatki Pueblo. It is small and close to the ground and is almost colorless. I've enhanced the photo to bring out the shape of the image. This is a Sinagua culture site. The image looks like it might represent a coiled snake, but one never knows for sure. And I'm not sure that the object above the coil is a petroglyph or just a feature of the rock surface.

This photo have been resized and manipulated in Photoshop to give the best representation of the image. Some color distortion is inevitable. If you would like to see higher quality versions of these shots, or if you would like to use these images for any purpose, please contact us and we would be glad to help if we can.
