Gate to the courtyard at Scotty's Castle (Death Valley Ranch), Death Valley National Park. This page presents information on Scotty's Castle, also known as Death Valley Ranch, within Death Valley National Park.
 Scotty's Castle (Death Valley Ranch)

A prospector that called himself "Death Valley Scotty" claimed that this elaborate Spanish-style mansion was built by gold from his fictitious mine. In reality, Scotty's Castle was the 1920s vacation home of his wealthy friends, Albert and Bessie Johnson. Today, living history tours of the "castle's" richly furnished interior and amazing underground tunnel system are given by costumed Park Rangers.
