This is a small site, with only these two impressive images. They have been subject to selfish vandalism, which has almost completely destroyed the image on the left. There are also bullet holes in and near the smaller of the two images. It's a real shame, because we have not seen other petroglyphs quite like these.
The smaller of the two images, the one on the right, is about 24 inches tall. Because it has obvious legs, it is possible that is is a Kachina (perhaps of the Sun) or a shaman under the influence of some drug. Both images seem to show the common three concentric circles, which are said to represent the entrance into the underworld, where the Ancestral Puebloans claim to have come from. Otherwise, the two images speak for themselves. |
