 Hiking

Exploring by trail is a good way to explore the Monument in any season. Choose short trails to spectacular overlooks or backcountry trails into canyons or across mesas. Plateau trails are level or gradually sloping; other trails may have short stretches requiring a steep ascent or descent. Mountain bikes, other off-road vehicles, and pets are prohibited on trails or anywhere in the backcountry. Horse use is allowed on most backcountry trails.
