The headwaters of the Colorado River, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. This page contains our personal notes on our journeys along the Colorado River Headwaters Scenic and Historic Byway in Colorado.
 Personal Notes
We have been over this stretch of road several times over the years, the most recent in 2001 and 2008, both times on trips to or from Rocky Mountain National Park. The byway follows an interesting route through mountain valleys and tight canyons, and across open meadows with scenic backdrops. There are lakes and reservoirs and quaint little towns. And, of course, there is the ever strengthening Colorado River, as it cuts its way along its path to the Gulf of California.
