We followed High Road out of Bear Creek Canyon Park to North Cheyenne Canon Park. The road changes from dirt and gravel to pavement in this area.

Helen Hunt Waterfall

9:43 a.m.
We stopped at the Helen Hunt Waterfall, right at the elbow in a large curve. This was a big surprise. There is a small paved parking area and a short trail that leads to the falls, with a picturesque bridge crossing the top of the falls. There appears to be a well used trail from there that climbs back into the trees and over a ridge.

It’s not the most spectacular water fall, in the sense that it is fairly short, but because of the ice and snow surrounding it on this day, and the rays of sun spreading through the trees, it made for a pretty picture. We walked up to the bridge and then back down.

There are portable toilets in this area, so I suspect that in the warmer months it must be a popular hiking area.

From the falls, eventually the road comes out into an old section of Colorado Springs near Cresta Road, which we took north on our way to Cave of the Winds.
