Clear Springs Trout Farm

3:30 p.m.
The Clear Springs Trout Farm is was 40 miles along our route from the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument Visitor Center.

We drove back down the Bell Rapids Grade and drove south along Highway 30 past the Thousand Springs Preserve where there were lots of birds visible on the river. We also drove past the 1000 Springs Resort, the Miracle Hot Springs, and the Banbury Hot Springs, each owned by the Nature Conservancy. After reaching the town of Buhl, we followed the main highway through town, toward the east. Near the east side of town watch for Clear Lakes Road and turn left, or north, and drive several miles to the Clear Springs Trout Farm.

This is a commercial operation, so they didn't allow us to view the trout tanks, but they do have a very nice park-like area with picnic tables and a port a-potty. There is also a viewing pond, with a variety of trout and sturgeon. There is a subterranean view area where visitors can view the fish from under water.

It's a nice area, with little streams and ponds, and lots of shade. A nice stop on a long, warm day of driving.
