 Overview

At over 1,400 feet, this is the longest span bridge in the West. The I. B. Perrine Bridge was completed in 1976 at a cost of around 10 million dollars and replaced the 1927 steel truss toll bridge. Much of the Snake River canyon is visible from the bridge, as well as from trails and viewing areas on either side of the bridge.

The Perrine Bridge is one of two bridges in the nation that don't have restrictions that limit BASE jumping. Perrine Bridge is open to BASE jumpers all year, every day. To watch the jumpers, do not stop on the bridge. Park at the Visitor Center and walk along the Canyon Rim Trail or on the bridge walkways. BASE jumpers are most often seen on weekends.
