Lake McConaughy, Nebraska. This page presents our personal notes on our visits to Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area, Nebraska.
 Personal Notes

I visited Lake McConaughy twice when I was in my high school years, and at least once when I was in college. Each time we were heading to western Nebraska or Wyoming to explore for fossils. McConaughy had camping facilities and seemed like a good stopping point after a days drive from Omaha.

The lake is actually a reservoir, and on one occasion we pulled a 14 foot sailboat along so that we could spend a bit of time sailing on the lake. I remember the water being cold on that early summer day, but we had a lot of fun taking our turns riding the turbid waters.

I don't remember much about the camping facilities, and I'm sure that they've changed considerably over these many intervening years.
