Rock Art
Eastern Nevada rock art. This page contains our personal notes on an unidentified rock art site in eastern Nevada.
 Personal Notes

This page is for a site that I visited with a BLM archeologist and several others in the early 1980s, somewhere north and east of Ely, Nevada. It was an unusual site in that the rock art was carved into large flat gray stones lying flat on the ground. There were several stones covering a few square yards up among the pinyon and juniper of a typical Great Basin range.

I also remember that there were old abandoned mining operations near by, and possibly a ghost town, but I don't recollect the name of the area. The best that I can determine, after looking over maps of the area, is that they may be in the Red Hills area. Someday I will go to that area and see if I can find these unusual panels.
