Rock Art
Like the other Great Basin states, Nevada seems to have rock art scattered everywhere throughout the state.
All of these photos have been resized and manipulated in Photoshop to give the best representation of the image. Some color distortion is inevitable. If you would like to see higher quality versions of these shots, or if you would like to use these images for any purpose, please contact us and we would be glad to help if we can.
On this boulder, along the left edge of the photo, there appears to be a representation of an atl atl, with its circular base and long shaft. The most prominent feature is what looks to be a snake.
In the lower right portion of this image is what appears to be a comet, with a circular body and trailing tail. However, some have interpreted this as a representation of the Sun, with rays of light emitting from its base.
This boulder has several interesting features, including the line of vertical bars, which may be some sort of calendar or counting device. Below that image there is an series of three circles tied together by a rambling line. One of the circles has a dot within, a common representation seen on many rock art panels.
