Grimes Point Archaeological Site, Nevada. This page contains our personal notes on our visits to the Grimes Point / Hidden Cave Archaeological Site in Nevada.
 Personal Notes

Though we have driven past the Grimes Point / Hidden Cave Archaeological site on many occasions, we have stopped to visit the site only once. This is an exposed area, in the middle of the Great Basin Desert, that is hot in the summer and cold in the winter. But it is well worth a couple of hours to stretch and explore the boulders covered by rock art and to hike to Hidden Cave.

Since our one visit the site has been improved and interpretive signs and trails have been improved. Even so, I've received word that many of the decorated boulders have been pried up and illegally removed. It is a shame that there are so many selfish people, preferring their own private enjoyment (or monetary reward) to preserving our heritage and sharing it with the generations.
