Rock Art
| We only found rock art in two locations within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area: in the Calico Hills area and near the Willow Springs picnic area. The Willow Springs rock art is located at Map Coordinates (NAD83): ~ 36 9.669 N; 115 29.884 W; at an elevation of 4,629 feet. Apparently there are other locations within the Conservation Area where rock art can be found.

This is part of the petroglyph panel located on the south side of the Willow Creek area. There is a short trail that leads across the wash and into a brushy area near the cliff face. There is nothing of major proportions here, and most of the images seem to be some sort of counting device.

To the north side of the Willow Creek picnic area is this small panel of pictographs. These hand prints are about ten feet off the ground, in a shallow alcove. They are hard to see until you focus on one, then the others seem to pop into view. I believe there are supposed to be seven hands here, but I was only able to find six.

We found this petroglyph along the Calico Tanks Trail on the north side of the Calico Hills. It was the only one we found in that area. It appears to be the Sun.
