We had reservations at the Comstock Inn. It doesn't look
like much from the outside, just sort of plain, but the rooms
are very nice. The owners have each room fixed up with wonderful
old furniture, and the rooms are kept up nicely. There was
a four post bed, a small television, a full bathroom, a couple
of old straight back chairs, a rocking chair (that I didn't
dare sit in), some tables, and old desk, and a dresser. The
floor was carpeted, although a bit creaky. Gave it all an
air of authenticity.
We drove out to the cemetery to poke around among the old
grave sites. It rained while we were out there, but not so
hard that we had to turn back. We had taken our rain jackets
just in case. And the cloud cover kept it cool enough that
we could take our time and explore. We tried to imagine who
these people were, and how they lived.
After that we drove into town and visited the large Catholic
Church (St. Paul's, I believe), then drove back to our room,
changed into jeans because it was starting to get cool, and
then we walked back into town. We visited the boardwalk part

We walked down the length of the boardwalk part of town,
past the old saloons and gift shops and museums and candy
shops, etc., then turned around and walked back. We ended
up eating in the Fireman's Restaurant near the southern end
of town. It seems that the only things they serve in town
are burgers and fried foods. There is supposed to be a good
Chinese Restaurant in town, but we couldn't find it.
After dinner we walked back into town and gambled away a
few dollars in the Delta Club, then we walked back to our
room, which is really at the top of the canyon above Gold
Hill.
Virginia City was very quiet, at night, and cool. We had
a very pleasant nights rest.
