Carlsbad Cavern contains one of the world's largest underground chambers and is an incomparable realm of gigantic subterranean chambers, beautiful cave formations, and surprising cave residents, including the famous Mexican free-tail bat. The Park's more than 70 caves include the nation's deepest limestone cave.

Cave Entry Fee: $6.00 per adult, $3.00 for children between 6 and 15, free for children under 6 years of age. Minimum age for the cave tour is 4 years of age. |

- Summers are usually hot and winters mild. However, extreme changes can come at any time of the year.
- In spring, winds can be strong.
- In summer, thunderstorms accompanied by brief, but often heavy, downpours, may bring flash floods to the canyon bottoms.
- In winter the normally mild weather may be broken by a short-lived snowstorm or a bone-chilling cold front sweeping through on gale force winds.
- In the caverns, the temperature remains a constant 56 degrees F., year-round.
