 Hiking

All backcountry hiking trails require a free permit, available at the Visitor Center or at each trailhead. Camping and fires are not permitted in the backcountry. All trails and Chacoan cultural sites are closed from sunset to sunrise. Trails are steep and uneven and can become icy in the winter.

Casa Rinconada Loop Trail

Description: It is graveled and climbs several short, steep rises. A trail guide is available. The trail passes the Tseh So and several other sites as well as an impressive Great Kiva atop a hill.
Chetro Ketl Trail

Petroglyph Trail

Description: Runs along the cliff face between Pueblo Bonito and Chetro Ketl, with views of many petroglyphs and other evidence of earlier habitation. A trail guide is available.
Pueblo Bonito Trail
