The Park has been part of the National Park System since 1965. It was formerly Pecos National Monument, and includes the Pecos pueblo ruins, the ruins of the Mission of Our Lady of the Angels of Porciuncula church, and units protecting the historic Glorieta battlefield site.

Area: 6,670 acres
Elevation: 7,000 feet
Fees: Individuals 16 years of age and older: $3.00 for 7  days. The entrance fee is also valid for 7 day use at nearby Fort Union National Monument. There is also an annual Pecos National Historical Park Pass for $10.00.
Hours: Open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Labor Day to Memorial Day. The Park is closed on January 1 and December 25.
Visitor Center: Yes. To check on the regularly scheduled guided tours, phone 505-757-6414, ext. 1.
Facilities: Visitor Center, book store, drinking water, and restrooms.
Directions: 25 miles southeast of Santa Fe, New Mexico, off I-25.
  • Traveling north on I-25, exit at Pecos-Glorieta interchange 299; drive east on N. M. 50 to the town of Pecos, and turn south on NM 63. The park is two miles south.
  • Traveling south on I-25, exit at Rowe interchange 307 and drive north on NM 63 for five miles to the Park entrance.

Weather: From June through September daytime temperatures may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Winter temperatures often drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures may range 50 degrees in a 24-hour period.
