The spectacular red cliffs which frame the Park on three sides began formation 205 million years ago. Several archaeological sites in the Park record the presence of the Ancestral Puebloans, a prehistoric farming culture that developed and persisted in the area from A.D. 300 to 1200. |

Drive east from Gallup on Interstate 40 about 8 miles. Take the exit for Church Rock and follow the access road to its intersection with 566. Turn north and follow the signs to the Park. |
