The spectacular red cliffs which frame the Park on three sides began formation 205 million years ago. Several archaeological sites in Red Rock State Park record the presence of the Ancestral Puebloans, a prehistoric farming culture that developed and persisted in the area from A.D. 300 to 1200. |

Drive east from Gallup on Interstate 40 about 8 miles. Take the exit for Church Rock and follow the access road to its intersection with 566. Turn north and follow the signs to the Park. |
