Near the Bridge of the Gods is a relatively quiet park-like area where the historic locks were built to help boats get past the wild cascades on the river (when it was still a river). You can walk along the upper, exposed, portion of the weathered locks, stroll along the tree shaded Thunder Island to the "river" side, picnic, and visit the museum. There is camping in the Marine Park, public rest rooms, and an information center, as well a boat ramp. The park is shady and very pleasant.
