Badlands National Park, South Dakota. This page contains personal notes on hiking and camping within Badlands National Park in South Dakota.
 Personal Notes

We have visited Badlands National Park in South Dakota many times over the years, especially in the 70s. This is a haven for fossil hunters (although collecting within the Park and on surrounding Native American lands is illegal), and a scenic wonderland that changes with the angle of the sun and the weather conditions. Visit after a summer rain to witness the vivid colors of the shales and clays. There are a couple of campgrounds, and plenty of backpacking and hiking opportunities.

We will add more detailed information as time allows. If you have immediate questions, send us an e-mail and we'd be glad to pass on what information we can.
