Buried beneath the Black Hills of South Dakota is the fascinating underground world of Jewel Cave. More than 122 miles of the cave have been surveyed, making this cave the third longest in the world.

Area: Covers 2 square miles of surface area, and over 122 miles of surveyed caves.
Elevation: N/A
Fees: Free. Cave tour fees: $4.00 for children 6 to 16; $8.00 for adults.
Hours: Open Labor Day through Memorial Day, daily, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and from Memorial Day through Labor Day, daily, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Visitor Center: Open daily year-round, except Thanksgiving, December 25, and January 1.
Facilities: Visitor center, trails, book sales, picnic tables, restrooms, drinking water.
Directions: 13 miles west of Custer, South Dakota, and 24 miles east of Newcastle, Wyoming via U.S. 16.
