We visited the Monument and took the tour of the cave. Very nice. The $8.00 per person tour includes a large number of people, maybe twenty or more. But it moved right along and we were able to see most of the cave features. The guide took his time and explained everything and it was well worth the cost of the tour.

I had been there at least once before, either in the late 50s or late 60s. I don't believe I ever visited the cave on my many trips to the Black Hills during the 70s.

Much of the surrounding forested area has been burned by recent fires, and that detracts from the overall ambiance of the setting. But it was still a pleasant and interesting place to visit. The Visitor Center has many displays that describe the features and history of the cave.
