Bear Lake State Park
Personal Notes
This page presents our personal notes on camp sites and hiking trails accessible from the Bear Lake Recreation Area in Utah.

This was our first trip with our new Coleman pop-up trailer. Because of that, we stayed in a commercial KOA campground. They have full hookups and that provided us an opportunity to check
out all of the features of the small trailer. As it turned out, everything checked out okay except that the faucet leaked. We spent some time fiddling with that.
We did take some time to drive around the lake and up to Montpelier, Idaho, just to see what was around the area, for future trips. We found lots of campgrounds around the lake, right on the water. There seems to be boating and swimming, and whatever other water sports one might be interested in. We also played some horseshoes, spent some time reading, and took a nice afternoon nap.
Bear Lake is at a fairly high elevation, so, although the temperatures were pleasant during the day, it did get cold at night. That gave us an excuse to try out the heater, which also worked well.
