 Overview

The Book Cliffs run for approximately 200 miles, from the area of Price, Utah toward the east to the Grand Junction, Colorado area. These mostly sedimentary formations get their name from their resemblance (from some angles) to rows of books lining a shelf. This is a rugged, dry desert area that has little to offer the casual hiker or camper, although there are some locations along their length where modern explorers can still enjoy this spectacular scenery and the natural wonders the cliffs have to offer.
