 Kane Creek Road

The Kane Creek Road heads out of Moab to the west, south of the Colorado River. There is some modern development in this area, where old uranium mines have been converted into cheap living quarters and storage areas. But here and there on the sheer faces of the sandstone cliffs one can find some unusual examples of petroglyphs.

All of these photos have been resized and manipulated in Photoshop to give the best representation of the petroglyph or pictograph image. Some color distortion is inevitable. Anthropomorphs
Kane Creek Road petroglyphs.
This anthropomorph appears to be shooting a bow and arrow. This is an enlargement of the following image.

In this expanded view, it appears that the anthropomorph is shooting an arrow at a large rabbit.
Kane Creek Road petroglyphs.
I'm not sure if this is an anthropomorph, or some other type of symbol.
Kane Creek Road petroglyphs.
This anthropomorph has outstretched arms and fingers and is wearing some sort of radiating head gear. There also appears to be a small zoomorph near the head and what may be a hoof print to the figure's right. This figure also appears to have the heart mark.
Kane Creek Road petroglyphs.
This unusual anthropomorph either has three legs or is quite well endowed. There also appears to be a heart mark on the chest.
Panels
Kane Creek Road petroglyphs.
This is the main panel at this site. The main figure on this panel appears to be a bent atlatl or a pitch fork of some sort. There are also a variety of anthropomorphs and zoomorphs, as well as various wavy lines and what appears to be a trail of hoof prints.

Here's another view of the main panel, photographed at an earlier date when the lighting was a bit different.

Another slightly different view of the main panel.
Kane Creek Road petroglyphs.
On this portion of the main panel we see the "three legged man", three desert big horn sheep, and what appears to be a canine of some sort, as well has several hoof prints and other odd markings.
Kane Creek Road petroglyphs.
In this segment of the main panel we see a long armed anthropomorph tossing what looks like a rope or net over the head of a desert big horn.
Kane Creek Road petroglyphs.
Here we see several desert big horn and other small zoomorphs in association with what appear to be two snakes. Are these perhaps, instead, two maps of the route taken to capture these big horn?
