Dead Horse Point State Park
Personal Notes
This page presents links to our personal notes on our visits to Dead Horse Point State Park in Utah.
General Overview
We have visited Dead Horse Point State Park twice so far, and have enjoyed both visits. I think most visitors just come for an hour or two on their way to the better known Canyonlands National Park. They look over the edge from the overlooks, maybe spend a few minutes in the Visitor Center, perhaps walk one of the shorter trails, then head on. But Dead Horse, like so many locations in canyon country, needs some time to work into your bones.
It offers a harsh, extreme environment, with great visual and spiritual rewards. Besides, the views from this Park are different from those in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park. They are well worth the side trip.
