Gold Hill
Gold Hill, Utah
Gold Hill was founded in 1892. A variety of minerals were mined at this location, including gold, silver, lead, copper, tungsten, arsenic, and bismuth. A smelter along a ridge just west of town processed the ore. At its peak, during World War I, the town had as many as 3,000 residents, a railroad line from Wendover, and many substantial buildings. The town began to fade away in 1924, but another boom during the Second World War saw the town spring back to life.
Several year-round residents still live in the town, so no scavenging is allowed.
