Bingham Canyon Mine, Utah.

Note: Due to a massive land slide within the Kennecott Utah Copper Bingham Canyon Mine in April, 2013 the Visitors' Center and overlook plaza were swept away. Kennecott has determined that it is not feasable to reopen that facility. Kennecott Utah Copper does have a virtual tour video available on their Web site.

Before the slide, standing at the overlook within the Bingham Canyon Mine, you could see, hear, and feel the breathtaking and awesome magnitude of more than 100 years of work. From the overlook, you could watch 240 and 320 ton capacity haulage trucks deliver copper ore to the in-pit crusher, where the material is reduced to the size of soccer balls before being loaded onto a five-mile conveyor that carries the ore to the Copperton Concentrator.

Located 28 miles southwest of Salt Lake City.

If there is inclement weather that will make a visit unsafe or not allow views of the mine, such as snowfall, fog, high winds, or heavy rain, their Web site will be updated to show that the Visitor's Center is closed. This information is dated to demonstrate its accuracy.
