Above a sandstone ledge along, about 40 feet above the Buckhorn Wash Road, is the Matt Warner Inscription , dated February 17, 1920. Matt was a very colorful outlaw that operated (on occasion with Butch Cassidy) from New Mexico to Washington State for over 18 years. During that period he frequented the nearby town of Green River, operating a saloon and brothel there. After his arrest and three year incarceration in the Utah State Prison he was released and led a much more wholesome life, eventually becoming a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Marshall in Price, Utah. He died in 1938.
