 Hiking

Precautions

  • When hiking along the beach, round the headlands only on the outgoing tide to avoid being trapped by the incoming tide. Use overland trails where they exist. Check at Ranger Stations for specific information.
  • Use caution when hiking the beaches. Sudden high waves can pick up beach logs and turn them into weapons; they kill.
  • Be prepared for sudden and extreme weather changes.
  • See the Park's Hiking and Backpacking page for more details.
  • See our Backpacking Tips.
  • See our Day Hiking Tips.
