The Boars Tusk is a 400 foot tall rocky spire that is known in geology as a volcanic plug. Local rock climbers love this feature that juts up in the middle of a broad basin.

  • The 2.5 mile side road to Boars Tusk may be passable in a high-clearance vehicle, but four wheel drive is recommended.
  • The road can be difficult in winter or when wet.
  • Summer can be hot in this area.
