This was one of the more unusual figures at the site. It was alone on this section of rock, and is about five feet tall. The bottom edge is just above the ground level.
At first it appears that the bottom half of the figure has eroded away, but on closer examination it appears that the entire lower half was pecked into the rock's surface, and that lichen has grown over some of the area.
This is one of those petroglyphs that has an other-worldly feel about it, with what looks like a domed helmet over what appears to be the head area. There are also the pair of tiny "wings" that give this image an almost humorous appearance.
Then there is the "tail" that appears to come from behind the figure, ending with what appear to be horns. We saw several other images like this on other parts of the panel, and they, in some cases where they were not coming out of a crack, had feet and sometimes tiny arms. |
