 Overview

The Medicine Lodge Archaeological Site has long been known for its Native American petroglyphs and pictographs, but not until 1969 did the full archaeological wealth of the site come to light. In that year, Dr. George Frison, then Wyoming State Archaeologist, began a series of digs that uncovered a human habitation site that had been continuously occupied for more than 10,000 years.

Hours: May 1 - Oct. 31: open 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Visitor Center: Yes
Facilities: Interpretive displays, picnic area, restrooms, drinking water, visitor center.
Directions: Located six miles northeast of Hyattville, off Hwy. 31 along the western slope of the Big Horn Mountains.
