 Overview

Wind River Canyon is 14 miles in length and the Big Horn River flows through it. Geologically, the canyon is about three million years old at the south end, and 300 million years old at the north end. This is one of the prettiest and most interesting drives in Wyoming.

  • Boysen Dam: 4,707 feet
  • North Portal: 4,371 feet

Facilities: Picnic tables and information displays.
Directions: Located six miles south of Thermopolis on Wyoming Highway 20.
