Canyon Country Animals
Birds: Common Raven
Ravens (Corvus corax) are omnipresent and omnivorous, inhabiting the desert year-round and eating anything they find, whether it is carrion, a kangaroo rat, or birds' eggs. Their raucous cries, noisy wing beats, and communal habits make them a prominent part of the landscape. Ravens closely resemble the American crow, but crows are smaller and have a less stately bill. Crows nest more often near riparian areas than ravens.
