Birds: Wild Turkey
Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo), was so widespread that it was considered for the U.S. national emblem. The male gobbles year round, but in the spring they are easily startled and will gobble at any abrupt noise.

- We have seen wild turkey along the north rim of the Grand Canyon, in Mesa Verde National Park, in Custer State Park, South Dakota, in Desoto Bend National Wildlife Refuge in Nebraska, Calf Creek Recreation Area, as well as a few other localities here and there.
