 Kissing Bugs
Beetle on sandstone.

Scientific Name: Triatoma

Also known as Conenose Bugs, these insects live in rodent nests and feed on mammal blood at night, leaving a large, itchy welt on the victim. They are not a problem during the cooler months, but during the warmer half of the year, they give desert backpackers one more reason to sleep in a fully closed net tent.
