Yellow-bellied Marmot in Yosemite.

Scientific Name: Marmota flaviventris

The Marmot is the size of a large, fat, domestic cat, generally in the range of from 5 to 15 pounds. The male is larger than the female. The ears and head are short and broad. The tail is about one-third of the bodies length. The color is usually brown to yellowish brown on the back, but mostly yellow on the belly. The Marmot is the largest of the squirrels.
