 Succulents
Saguaro cactus. There is a wide range of varieties and sizes of cacti and other succulents in canyon country, especially in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. The cacti are especially interesting in the spring and early summer, when they blossom in a range of colors, from white and faded yellow to vivid purples.

Be especially careful near cholla cactus, which are rare in this region. With just the slightest touch the spines can become embedded in your skin. If a cactus joint attaches itself, do not grab it. Use two sticks, a pocket comb, or another object as a lever to flip away the joint.

All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti.
