- Be especially careful near cholla cactus, which are rare in this region. With just the slightest touch the spines can become embedded in your skin. If a cactus joint attaches itself, do not grab it. Use two sticks, a pocket comb, or another object as a lever to flip away the joint.
- All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti.
